The Purple Swamphen is also known as the Purple Gallinule or Pukeko.

Their breeding habitat is the reedbeds in southern Europe,  Africa, Asia , and Australia.

This chicken-sized bird, with its large feet, bright feathers and red bill and frontal shield is unmistakable.

It will eat young plants, namely reeds, while foraging.  

The Asian Purple Swamphen has a very  loud call, and can fly short distances with it's legs dangling.

They are available as male/female pairs, and are one year old.
