Kookaburras, of Australia, are from the family Kingfishers. Similar to other kingfishers, Kookaburras have a stout and compact body, short neck, rather long and pointed bill and short legs.

Kookaburras are 17 inches tall, the upper parts of their body is dark brown, with the wings being a spotted grayish-blue. A white band separates the head and the body. There is a dark stripe through the eye, and the under parts are white. The bill is black.

In the wild, Kookaburras will prey on the young of other birds and snakes, as well as insects and small reptiles.  They will also eat a poultry layer type feed.

They are newly hatched and straight run only.
