The Cayuga takes its name from Lake Cayuga, New York which makes it one of the few duck breeds with an United States origin. The Cayuga is a quiet duck that is very hardy and is known primarily for its brilliant "beetle" green plumage. The hens, which weigh 5 to 6 pounds, lay a light blue or gray egg and the males grow to between 6 and 7 pounds. Ducklings have black feet and bills, black down, and have an occasional trace of yellow on their breast. These eggs are sold only in lots of 12 or 25. Shipped USPS Priority Mail Available from April to the first week in June.

Customer Product Reviews
Each year I hatch ducks with my pre-schoolers. This year we chose Cayugas because several African American children in my class have begun identifying with various black animals; we had a wonderful experience incubating the eggs and, when they hatched we incorporated a two week lesson plan about black and white animals. This crossed over, of course, to sociology and lessons about the similarities and differences among all people. We have kept a pair of the black Cayugas to watch them mature. They are friendly and calm and stay very close to their home all the time. They are quite tame and eat the children love letting them eat out of their hands and watching them swim in their own pool. Thanks Murray McMurray for helping my kids have another very positive learning experience!
I am very plaesed with my shipmint of Cayuga duck eggs. They were in great condition and now I have 12 healthy birds.
