Customer Product Reviews
It was a while ago that we ordered these Golden Penciled Hamburgs in NC. But what a personality they have. Can fly like no other chicken I have seen. The hens would fly down from the barn 40 yards away in the morning and at the last second before they would fly into you make a quick turn and land on the ground like nothing happened, what show offs. They are scrappy and bossy, taking no guff off much larger hens.
Hurray for Hamburgs! Excellent little pheasant-like birds! Excellent foragers, lovely personalities!
Our Golden Penciled Hamburg is such a faithful daily layer of almost round, little, pinkish eggs. She is very fast and active, the first out of the coop in the AM and the last into the coop at night. We definitely want to order more Hamburgs for their cute, round eggs. Her good looks are also a nice bonus!
Golden Penciled Hamburgs are ACTIVE little birds. They keep my chickens on there toes, too. She likes to chase my dog around. Thank you, Murray McMurray Hatchery
This is a great small active breed. I keep them in a mixed flock with the heavier Rhode Island Reds. They free range in an area with many predators, and their active nature keeps the Rhode Islands on their toes. I havn't lost one!
Dependable egg layers and good foragers - definately ordering some more.
We have two beautiful Golden Hamburgs. Our young children love to hold them. They are great birds for a small yard. Thanks!
