I was curious how others keep their flock cool during the extreme heat in the deep south? I try to make sure they have shade, which is easier because mine free range and can find shady places more easily. I have been known to put a frozen bottle of water in a shallow dish of water for them to cool off in and hook a fan up so that it blows into the run. Any other creative ideas?

All they really need is to be free ranged, pastured, with access to Deep shade under bushes, trees, scrubs where they will dig down and cool off and dust bathe surprised how deep they will dig, mine are almost fully in the hole and enjoy it.You will b Keep water near them in shade so that they do not have to go out in the heat to get water in the run or coop.
