I have a 1 month old chicken whose bottom beak doesn't line up with it's top beak. Do you know what could cause this, and do you have any suggestions?

It's either a genetic deformity or something happened while it was forming in the egg. A common beak problem is a crossed beak. If the chick is eating without a problem there is little you can do. If it isn't eating properly then you have a choice to make. Some people hand feed their chicken. Some chickens can get by with special food. Others would euthanize the chick.

If I had a chick like that and it was eating okay I'd keep it. However, I would not hatch eggs from it in case it is a hereditary issue.

Thank you. It is eating good so I'll just keep it. I don't think I could stand to euthanize it anyway. :)

You are welcome. You are lucky that it's eating okay. I check the beaks first thing when I get chicks in the mail to make sure they are all okay.
