I have 10 chickens (9 hens, 1 rooster). I noticed 2 hens of the same breed began losing a little patch of feathers on their backs. They are less than a year old, so I don't think they are molting. I checked the area and there is some scabbing. I have never seen any pecking or bullying, but am concerned how the wounds might have happened and how to best treat.

To note - They have all been together since birth. All well fed, well watered, easy access to dust baths, vaccinated, plenty of clean coop and run space. I spend a little time with them every day, and never witnessed any bullying/pecking.

Any ideas on what might be going on? Any suggestions on how to care and treat them?
