Originally from Africa, Guineas are prized for their all-dark, gamey tasting meat. Newly hatched guineas, called keets, are very active from the start. Until 12 weeks of age, different colors of guineas will look similar and be difficult to distinguish.
Mature guineas are active foragers and thrive on bugs, insects, ticks, weeds and seeds. Guineas are also known to call attention to visitors or other occurences.
