McMurray Hatchery Buff Cochin Hen
Buff Cochin chickens are a massive Asiatic breed covered with an extraordinary abundance of soft, fluffy, golden buff feathers from tip to toe. Cochins were introduced from China in the mid-1800s as Shanghais, and they created a sensation wherever shown. Today this breed is still a beautiful show bird and highly prized for exhibition.

The Buff Cochin is one of our family favorites. These large, feather-footed birds have an excellent disposition making them a good choice for a backyard flock or urban setting, and they weather the cold well. Cochin hens are ok brown egg layers, and good setters.
