Here is another outstanding exhibition variety, a member of the ancient breed of "Poland Fowls", and one most striking in appearance. The plumage is silvery white, each feather laced with lustrous black. Hens lay white eggs, are non-setters.
I am very impressed with my Silver Polish rooster and hen. They are wonderful, quiet, and peaceful. They have won first place on their first year of showing. Thank You, Mcmurray Hatchery!
My two polish hens have beautiful black lacing. The one I entered last year won a third at the state fair. THough their eggs are smaller than my pearl-whites, the two are very enthusiastic layers. My New Hampshire Red rooster loves them as much as I do! -Kasandra
I absolutely adore the Silver Laced Polish hen I received in my order from Murray McMurray. She was so sweet, and every day she would climb into my hand to be fed. A bit smaller than the other hens, but not lacking in spunk.
I would definately order this breed time and time again.
Did You Know?
Chickens can start sparring to establish the pecking order at about 6 weeks of age. (And I've seen it in 1 week old chicks.)
