Customer Product Reviews
I love my Silver Gray Dorkings, their temperament is the best of any chickens I've owned. I hatched some chicks this year from the rooster and hens I ordered last year she is a great mother. I recommend this breed to anybody who is looking for a calm and well established breed. Murray McMurray Hatchery has the healthiest chicks.
My husband and I purchased some chicks over the summer. We ordered an assortment of breeds but no Silver Gray Dorkings. We were given a free "rare exotic" chick in the mix and after some time I finally figured out what it was. The fifth toe gave it away and it grew into the most beautiful rooster in the bunch! He is so gentle and mild mannered too! What a gorgeous bird!
I ordered one Silver Gray Dorking cockerel with my Commercial Egg Layer package this past summer (7/2012). I was so pleased to open the box and see that I was given an extra Sliver Gray Dorking cockerel. They are the most calm and mild mannered chickens I have. They have grown quickly and their feather patterns are beautiful. My two roosters do well with my daughter. I recommend them for families that want to experience having a rooster, but who do not want an aggressive animal.
When I ordered my chicks, I made a mistake on the online order form. I didn't realize it until after I had clicked Submit, so I had to call to fix my error (I don't have room for THAT many birds!)The customer service rep was wonderful, joking with me and cheerfully re-doing my order the way I wanted it. Fast forward to Chick Day... I received my chicks on Sunday, the day after they were shipped. All 27 were healthy, active, and all were eating and drinking immediately when I put them into the brooder. They are lovely birds. This is my fourth batch of chicks,my second "litter" of Dorkings.I got some other breeds in this order, too. Dorkings are known for friendliness, but these chicks - all the breeds - are noticeably calmer and friendlier already than any of the others have been. My hope is to let these little goobers raise the next generation, but if I order chicks in the future, I will certainly use McMurray again. In the meantime, I will recommend them to anyone I can.
I got some silver Grey Dorkings and they are the most wonderful birds! They have a very gentle temperment and the females are great mommys to the babys! I would definitly recommend Silver Grey Dorkings! Especially if they are looking for birds who are calm and want the hens to hatch out a few babys for them.Justine Norquist Sandy, OR
