The Ameraucana is a highly popular breed, known for their beautiful blue eggs.
The Ameraucana breed was originally developed in the 1970s, derived from Araucanas. Ameraucanas were bred to retain the blue-egg laying gene but eliminate some of the issues associated with the Araucana breed.
Mature Ameraucanas are medium-sized birds with pea combs, are extremely hardy, and come in a wonderful combination of colors and color patterns making a beautiful laying flock. Baby chicks come in all colors, just like the adults.
Our Ameraucanas are sold as a mixed flock only, and specific feather coloring is not available. Our birds have muffs, but not all will have beards. Hens will breed true for egg color. 1 in every 300ish lays a pink egg, depsite our best efforts.

Q&A
Are these “Easter Eggers”? Or breed true Ameraucana.
Our Ameraucanas are a true breed. They are not Easter eggers. We've had this line since the 1970's. The only thing we don't breed for is color in this breed. We do not cross them with any other breed.
Your “Ameraucanas” description says they are a “mixed flock.” Does this mean the colours are mixed or that they are not purebred?
We breed Ameraucanas for a standard egg color and egg production.
Our Ameraucanas are sold as a mixed flock as specific feather coloring is not available.

How many eggs can we expect a year?
We do not have an average for each breed. It can vary depending on environment and care. But they are very good layers. So you may get an egg every day with ideal conditions.
What is the difference between Araucanas and
Ameraucanas?
Araucana is a purebreed originating from South America. They have no tail feathers.
Americanas (Ameraucanas) are a mix of Araucana and other American breeds. They do have tail feathers.
Our chicks are classified as Americanas. We breed for a standard egg color and egg production.
Are these true araucanas? If they are they do not have tails....do these have tails? We are only want true aracuanas.
No, ours are Ameraucanas. We do not hatch the true Araucana breed.
Are the Araucanas that you sell true Araucana's?
Araucanas are a purebred originating from South America. They have no tail feathers. Americanas are a mix of Araucana and other American breeds. They have tail feathers.
Ours would be classified as Americanas. We breed for a standard egg color and egg production.
I live in a small town and we are only allowed 4 chickens. If placing an order in June is there any way a person can order 4 different types of chicks and not 15.
The minimum order for shipping chicks is 15. We do not ship less than 15.
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF THEY ARE FEMALES OR MALES
We have professional sexers that sex the baby chicks.
I want a yellow and blue Americana rooster can you gete one or two?
Sorry, our Araucanas can be different color varieties... unfortunatley we are unable to pick certain colors for the customer requests.
What happens if you order all females and end up with a male?
We do guarantee the sexing 90%.
My favorite egg layersEaster eggers are my favorite farm bird. I have several breeds, but the EEs are the best layers, year round. Their egg quality is great, the shells are thick and have a good shape. They are always healthy and are great hunters and foragers. They roam the farm and lay in a designated box, they are very smart. Sweet birds that are my best egg layers.
DEANN
Love the Birds but DisappointedI adore the birds themselves--they have such wonderful personalities and beautiful colors. They are one of my favorite breeds. I would give them a five-star+ rating. But I am very disappointed as far as their eggs. Their production is okay, but they lay dull greenish eggs (none lay anything like a blue egg) and one lays a brown egg.
