White Egg Layers

To help ensure a safe arrival to you, the minimum number of chicks for each order prior to April 1st is 25. On and after April 1st, the minimum number of chicks required is 15. You can mix and match any type of baby chick in your order to reach the applicable chick minimum order. Our operators are happy to suggest complementing breeds if you need assistance.

Anconas are beautiful black chickens mottled with white tips. They are excellent white egg layers, generally non-setters, are heat tolerant and have a good disposition.

Andalusian chickens are beautiful blue breed often used in exhibition. Hens are good white egg layers, with very little tendency towards broodiness.

The Crevecoeur chicken is a rare breed originating from Normandy, France. The Crevecoeur is very similar in size to the Houdan, only all black in color and with four toes.

This is a very old breed known even to the ancient Romans and introduced by them to Britain. Characteristics are the color combination of silvery white and black for males and white and ashy gray for females. Both sexes have a 5th toe, and a long body on short legs.

Red Caps
This Old English Breed with reddish brown feathers tipped with black spangles has a large rose comb covered with prominent points. They are white skinned & lay tinted eggs.

The Sultan chicken is an extremely rare breed. These majestic, all-white birds have a top crest, muff, beard, feathered shanks, and a fifth toe.

Golden Penciled Hamburgs
This is an absolutely beautiful variety of the Hamburgs; having finely penciled plumage of black barring on reddish base color, leaden blue shanks and toes, and a neat pointed rose comb.

This breed came from the island of Sumatra in far off southeast Asia. It is a graceful, Iongtailed fowl with lustrous greenish-black plumage throughout, small comb and wattles, very rare and beautiful.

Houdans
These were raised extensively on the many small farms near the village of Houdan in France; and this locale and the lovely black plumage in which many feathers are tipped with V-shaped white spots give them their name.

Red Shouldered Yokohama's were first developed in Europe from Japanese breeds brought to Europe by French missionaries. The males boast an unusual plumage, including long tail and saddle feather. Females are good layers of cream colored eggs. The breed tends to be quiet and gentle.


Lakenvelders
They are quite small when mature, 3 to 4 Ibs., and very quick and active, foraging widely if allowed to run. The skin is white and the breast unusually plump and round, almost like wild game birds.
