Chinese Ringneck Pheasants are one of the most popular of breeds of pheasants. Used primarily for stocking and hunting, these hardy birds readily adapt to the wild and are prized by sportsmen for their excellent flying ability and brilliant color.

Male Chinese Ringneck Pheasants can weigh between 2.7 and 3 lbs. at maturity (approx. 22 weeks), while females range from 1.7 to 2.2 lbs. When raising pheasants for meat, consider our Jumbo Ringneck Pheasants.

What feed is best for pheasants?
We recommend Game Bird Starter or Turkey Starter feed with 28% protein for the first 5 weeks. Weeks 6-12, switch to a 20% protein Game Bird Grower or Turkey Grower feed. Weeks 13+, use a 16-18% Game Bird or Turkey layer feed.

Are they good at removing ticks?
Yes, pheasants will eat ticks.

How many weeks old do the Chinese pheasant chicks need to be before releasing into the wild?
You can release them at 8 weeks of age if it is spring or summer. May hold them through one winter and release in the spring if needed. Be sure they have enough water, feed, nesting areas when releasing them.
