Juvenile Pied Guineas
Pied Guineas have blue-gray throughout and regularly marked with pearl-like white spots or wavy bars of white except that their breasts and flight feathers are pure white. Pied Guineas are relatively rare and only a limited supply are available.
Guineas are an enjoyable addition to your farm as they provide much entertainment as you watch them dart across the yard like little roadrunners. The warning call of the guineas notifies the chickens of an overhead hawk allowing them to run for safety. Guineas detest snakes and will kill any they find!
On our farm we raise our guineas on pasture to encourage there natural ability to search for bugs, insects and for plenty of exercise.
Since guineas are known to wander away from home its best to confine them for 3-4 weeks before allowing them to free range or introducing them to your flock.
