White Muscovy Duck
White Muscovy Ducks have risen to popularity in recent years as a dual-purpose duck breed. Muscovy duck meat is 98% fat free, and not greasy like other duck meat, which makes it a healthy meal option. Some say that the breast meat is similar to a sirloin steak.
The Muscovy Duck is the one domestic duck breed that is not derived from the Mallard. They are considered large, perching waterfowl. Muscovy are calm and quiet ducks, and drakes and hens often share nests and hatching duties between them. Muscovys love to eat flies and are often kept for natural insect control on farms and homesteads.
Our White Muscovy ducks are mostly white, with some dark spots on their head or body. Muscovy hens are average egg layers, but make excellent mothers to their young. Interestingly, Muscovy eggs take longer to hatch than other duck breeds, taking 35 days versus the usual 28 days. Male drakes are nearly double the size of females, which makes it easier to identify males as they grown.
Only straight run (unsexed) available at this time.
