Start And Grow Unit

The Start and Grow Unit is a brooder with 2 grow off pens. This unit is designed for people with limited space. Approximately 48 day old chicks fit in the brooder, which comes complete with base stand, heat and 3 throughs for feed and water. After 4 weeks move 24 of your chicks into each grow-off pen, which also includes the 3 throughs. Now you are ready to start another 48 chicks in the brooder. Brooder on this unit is our Universal Box Brooder, 3GMHB Shipped in 8 cartons.

The Expander Unit, sku 3GE, is for use between the brooder and grow pens to give 14" of head room.

Does this come with a heater for the brooder box? and if so, is it thermostatically controlled?
The top unit is the Universal Box Brooder. It has a 250 watt heater to provide heat while the vented plastic side panels keep out drafts. Comes with a thermometer and wafer thermostat, which is accurate to 2 degrees. Has a socket for a low wattage attraction bulb (not included). The bottom two units do not have heat.

Can you confirm the Start and Grow Kit as pictured? 1 universal brooder box, 2 grow off pens, 2 expander units, and 1 base stand? Thank you.
Each unit (sku #3GSG) comes w/brooder, plus 2 expanded grow off pens, 3 troughs for feed and water & the base stand.

Can these be used for the larger game and meat birds?
The Start and Grow unit will work fine for game birds and/or meat chicks. However, you may not be able to get as many chicks in the brooder or grow off pens when used for these larger breeds. Typically, the Start and Grow unit will accommodate 48 chicks.

Is heating element digital or wafer controled
These have a wafer thermostat .
