White Naked Neck (Turken)
APA CERTIFIED FLOCK
The White Naked Neck chicken — sometimes referred to as a Turken — is one of of the most unusual varieties of poultry. As the name suggests, the Naked Neck has feathers on their head and body, but its neck and chest are bare except for a bow-tie tuft of feathers at the front of it neck.
The White Naked Neck chickens from McMurray Hatchery are bred to standard and sought after by hobbyists and fanciers. These unique snow-white birds are one of our APA Certified breeds.
In spite of their feather shortage, Naked Neck chickens are a hardy breed and withstand cold weather well as long as care is given to their combs during extreme weater. Hens are good brown egg layers and good setters.
Other color varieties are available in our mixed-feather flock.
