White Langshan

Stunning birdI was a little iffy on how beautiful these birds would be but I should have trusted the description. They really are stunning. I’ve got dang near all breeds that McMurray carries and this is one of my favorites. Gentle, quiet, but personable. Will gladly be held and petted. Good mother. It’s very similar to the Cochins and Brahmas in terms of temperament and personality- it just has a more graceful carriage if you can call these miniature dinosaurs “graceful.” If these were cars, the Brahmas and Cochins are nice sedans. These Langshans are sleek, tall and stately, and would be a Bentley that you’d want to show off. (I’m not a car person, that probably shows). The only con is that they take longer to mature than most other breeds. My hens were closer to 8mon before they started laying sporadically. By month 9, they lay about 3-4 eggs a week. I’ve gotten some beautiful pinkish brown eggs and they really do look lovely in a basket of colorful eggs.

I’ll definitely add more to my flock- I’m waiting to get some black ones.

Oh. And I’ve had no health problems with them.

If you were on the fence, I’d go ahead and get some.
