Do you select breeds based on destination? E.g. heat tolerant for gulf coast, vs cold hardy for somewhere it snows?
The chicks in the assortments are selected randomly. We do not select breeds in the assortment based on their destination.

Is this assortment guaranteed to be only females?
We guarantee 90% accuracy with sexing.

We ordered a variety layer box of chicks. One of our chicks is buff colored and has fuzzy legs. Is it a cochin?
Yes, looks like a buff cochin.

how do i get my chix imunized? Last year I phoned my order in, and asked for the dustings. Do you automatically do this with the internet orders?
During the checkout process, you will come to a page that will ask about the vaccinations and supplements. So you can choose at that time if you want them vaccinated.

When ordering the Murray's Choice Layers, how will we know what breeds we have received?
We do not list what breeds are included with each assortment. You may not be able to identify them until they are feathered.

I'd like to order 15 of the Murray's Choice Layers but have to have them the week of March 14th. Am I out of luck to get just 15 since it is before April 1st? Thank you. Debbie McCarthy
February and March chick orders must be a minimum of 25. April through October is when we ship out our minimum of 15 chicks.

What breeds are going to be in the murrays choice layers bunch? I am going to purchase 15 chicks and was curious on what might come in. Thanks, Edgar
Chickens which lay white, tinted, and brown eggs will be supplied in this beautiful assortment. At least 5 different varieties of our choice are included in Murray's Choice Layers from these groups of chicks: White Egg Layers, Heavy Breeds, Ameraucanas, and Rare and Unusual Varieties. We cannot guarantee that breeds from all groups will be included.

What would be the minimum at this time 15 or 25 for the Murrays CHoice layers
The minimum for shipping is 15 chicks. This package is sold in lots of 15, 25, 50, and 100. You can order whichever quantity you'd like.

Do you do Marek's shots and when/how are they done?
Yes, we follow strict bio security measures and our facility is very clean. The Marek's Disease is airborne, so they would only get it if the birds are outside and exposed to the disease.

Will this include Bantam sized? I do not want Bantams.
Murray's Choice Layers is an assortment package of standard breed female chicks. No bantam breeds will be included in the assortment.

What kind of chickens are included in this package?
It could contain any female chicks from the white, brown, or colored layer varieties and rare or unusual breeds.

what's the max of chicks that you ship in one box.
Good Morning, Our largest shipping box for our chicks is the 100 ct. size.

Is this the same as the Rainbow Layer? I order that every year and have always been very happy.
Yes, it is the same assortment just a new name for 2015.

When do these chicks, rainbow layer assortment, start laying eggs?
The production ages will vary depending on breeds, but most will start between 5-7 months.
