Celadon 'True Blue' Coturnix Quail
Celadon 'True Blue' Coturnix Quail are sold in lots of 10 quail chicks per order (unsexed / straight run). Feather colors and patterns will vary.
Celadon Coturnix Quail are highly desired for their blue eggs. All Celadon Coturnix are 'true blue' meaning that all of our Celadon chicks will carry the blue gene, and hens will lay blue eggs. NOTE: Celadon blue eggs are a very light blue, not a bright blue. When breeding Celadon Coturnix, to ensure subsequent generations will carry the blue gene it's important to only breed birds that areboth 'true blue' and carry the blue gene.
To ensure safer shipping, Coturnix Quail are shipped will range from approximately 3-6 weeks of age. Quail grow much more rapidly than chickens, therefore upon arrival these Coturnix chicks will be starting to feather out.
Coturnix Quail are small dual-purpose birds are ideal for both urban and backyard keepers, as well as hobby farmers and homesteaders. Coturnix are easy to raise and fast growing — going from chick to laying in just 8-10 weeks, and come in a variety of colors. Raise them for meat, or their distinctive small eggs. As a meat bird, Coturnix can average just 3-6 ounces at maturity — Celadon Coturnix have been known to reach as much as 8-9 oz. at 10 weeks.
Coturnix Quail can be moved from a brooder to a hutch, cage or enclosure once they are fully-feathered, which is around 4 weeks. Use care when moving outside to ensure that the weather is good.
