White Wyandottes

White Wyandottes are good brown egg layers, and are a wonderful dual-purpose breed that stands cold weather very well and is excellent in northern climates. These all white birds have snow-white feathers, yellow skin and legs, and rose combs. The White Wyandotte does not have the lacing that is present in other Wyandotte varieties.

Hens are good brown egg layers and tend to be non-setters.

Cockerels, with their deep, well-rounded bodies, make an ideal bird for dressing, and finish earlier than many other heavy breeds.

What age do you expect they could be harvested at and do they reproduce naturally?
Wyandottes are a heritage breed. They will reproduce naturally. Wyandotte males can be butchered around 16-20 weeks of age.

Are they Dominate White or Recessive White?
well to be real honest I dont know. They are smokey as chicks which is one of the forms of dominate. We dont ever cross them with anything so Ive not have to opportunity to test the white.

I am very interested in the White Wyandottes, but am wondering if they will set. I am wanting to use them as meat and egg sources but would like to be able to have them hatch chicks.

That means they are not likely to sit on a clutch of eggs to hatch them.
